August in Madrid<\/b> is a tribute to those looking to enjoy a city at their feet. Its cultural program for the summer remains select, but you’ll find a lot fewer queues. Madrid<\/b> rewards you for your visit with a forgotten photography icon. It’s Louise<\/b> Dahl-Wolfe<\/b><\/a>, the mythical photographer who helped Harper\u2019s Bazaar become legend between 1936 and 1958 with pictures of Vivian Leigh<\/b>, Marlene <\/b>Dietrich<\/b>, and Orson Welles<\/b>. Her brilliant book inspired many new geniuses like Richard Avedon<\/b>. You can see it at the C\u00edrculo de Bellas Artes<\/a> (calle Alcal\u00e1, 42) throughout August; the local is very close from our Flat Sweet Home Gran V\u00eda Apartment<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"FLAT<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, let’s go back in time to change a photograph for a painting,\u00a0 with a visit to the works of a lesser-known painter, but transcendental in the history of Impressionism. Gustave <\/b>Caillebotte<\/b> was considered only a patron and a collector for over a century until someone noticed the quality of his paintings. The Museo Thyssen<\/a> (Paseo del Prado, 8) is located in an area known as the Triangle of Art of Madrid<\/b>, along with the Museo del Prado and close to the fantastic Flat Sweet Home Prado Apartment<\/a>. The sublime technique of this forgotten painter will delight you. Another great universal artist, Joaqu\u00edn Sorolla<\/b>, has his own museum in Madrid<\/a> (Paseo General Mart\u00ednez Campos), and our agenda couldn’t miss the opportunity to recommend the exhibition Tierra Adentro<\/b>. It shows the lesser-known landscapes by the Valencian artist, away from the beach and in full creative extasy in the fields and mountains of Spain.<\/p>\n

As a soundtrack to your visit, we recommend a visit to the charming rooftop of La Casa Encendida<\/a> (Ronda de Valencia, 2) on August 14th. There, the renowned artist Colleen will hypnotize you through her methodical and melodic music, composed with an endless array of instruments that help her reinvent pop and electronic music. Another suggestion, more classical but just as effective, is the concert of the Vargas Blues Band<\/b> on the picturesque Arapiles neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

\"FLAT<\/a><\/p>\n

The legendary Sala Galileo<\/a> (calle Galileo, 100) dresses up for the sound of mestizo blues on August 17th. To end this week in Madrid <\/b>in the best Flat Sweet <\/b>Home<\/b> style, nothing like a vitalist comedy at La Escalera de Jacob <\/b>(calle Lavapi\u00e9s, 9), one of the most sublime theater-bars in Madrid<\/b>. It’s located in the Lavapi\u00e9s<\/b> neighborhood, and it presents the play Crucidramas<\/a>\u2014the ideal start to an exquisite immersion to the neighbourhood’s multiracial culture and cuisine. It all begins and ends in the comfort of your Flat Sweet Home <\/b>in Madrid<\/b>.<\/p>\n
