This weekend Madrid dress Gala to celebrate its patron saint festivities. Up to 16 Monday the city will be setting for concerts, theatre, children’s activities, shows and parades. The Plaza Mayor, the meadow of San Isidro, the Vistillas gardens and the Retiro Park are just some of the scenarios on which act to artists of all styles.
More than 50 concerts of established musicians such as Santiago Auserón, Nacho Vegas, Esperanza Argüelles, El Langui, Cora Novoa the Banda Sinfónica de Madrid will take place during the weekend. But that is not all, there will be bands, dances, puppet shows, Dj’s that will offer fun for all ages.
Firework displays over the Retiro Park lake, dancing to the beat of swing music, Latin American sounds, tangoes and tap dancing in the Plaza del Museo Reina Sofía as well as classical music at nightfall in the Temple of Debod and Plaza de Oriente all form part of a clearly multi-disciplinary artistic programme. No wonder that from 14 to 16 May, Plaza del Conde de Barajas will be filled with poetry. Throughout the entire San Isidro festival the traditional pottery fair, the Feria de la Cacharrería, will be held in Plaza de las Comendadoras.
